Walking into the Mansur Gavriel presentation was a little like stepping into another
I had an inkling that it was going to be anything but the fashion week norm, and it was something entirely different. A little mod-influenced pink dreamworld, and a little old school charm, with a dash of a Wes Anderson film (minus Jason Schwartzman!)
They transformed a blank space at the Swiss Institute into an elegant store that you might expect to meet Donald Draper in. Lush pink carpet in a perfect hue, velvety couches and walls of bags and their first ever shoe designs. Men in white tuxedos offered guests champagne, and the models were a mixture of professionals and real, cool New York girls (including Elle from our team, who was so cute in a shift dress over a turtleneck – and looked so beautiful!). Half of the models were dressed as shop girls in sweet two-piece uniforms, and the other half were dressed as “shoppers”, mingling with the audience.
It was cool, different, and crazy intense, cotton candy pink everywhere! A nice change of pace… And style. What do you think of this approach, over a traditional runway show? And what do you think of the new collection?
