Super lazy weekend over here. I realized super late that it was Easter weekend and I hadn’t planned anything at all which ended up being… Totally awesome.
For once, New York seemed sleepy (so rare) – and all my friends who usually have their entire weekend booked up like it’s back to school Monday all seemed totally relaxed.
For me, who has never quite gotten used to the rhythm of big cities, it all did me some good…
I have yet to shake off my Southern habits where the weekend means meeting up at a café to sit for hours, eventually making your way to someone’s house to put together some pasta while talking about anything and everything (in French we call these conversations “remaking the world”), and wait for more friends to arrive with a bottle of wine in hand (or not, no worries).
I think that’s the thing I miss most about my former life… Café terrasses and professional lazing about.
I took the time to sloth around on my couch for a few hours, had one of the Best Massages in the World, discovered Law & Order SVU with a friend (I know, VERY deep), started reading a book about Zelda Fitzgerald, started an at-home gym regime (aka: a super lazy gym regime) which would definitely crack you up, texted my friends for hours, hung out with others, and then went to go get some groceries, which I feel like I haven’t done since 1976.
Okay, I’m exaggerating a little, but New York life isn’t exactly grocery heavy, seeing as most people spend their entire life at the restaurant or working, or at the gym to shed some of the calories from the restaurant or the stress from work, ahaha.
So happy Easter Monday to you if you get a long weekend. Happy Easter if you are Catholic, Happy Passover if you’re Jewish. Any other thing to celebrate? Oh yeah! Happy Birthday Papa!!!
For me, today I’m back to work, but slowly now, slowly.
What did you all do this weekend?
PS: The photo does not have much to do with the core of our subject (as if there was a core) but I wasn’t going to send you a picture of my couch… This photo I took at The Butcher’s Daughter, a good place to hang out with friends and remake the world…
